Matt Himsworth – Managing Director

Matt spent 10 years at esteemed media law firm Schillings advising some of the firm’s highest profile clients on the laws of defamation, privacy, confidentiality, harassment, copyright and other associated media laws.

He has acted for some of the most celebrated names in sport and works as a trusted adviser to top Premier League Football Clubs.

Matt has offered reputation and privacy protection services to players, coaches and executives and has worked hard with the clubs’ education departments to deliver a unique education and mentoring programme for Academy and Elite Development squads in relation to reputation, privacy, the media and social media.

Aside from sport his client base includes high profile individuals and companies from diverse industries such as commodities, entertainment, digital and tech, education and health.

Previous work includes:

  • acted for claimants in some of the most significant libel cases of the 2000s including Collins Stewart v Financial Times (2003-2006) a case which saw the FT’s publisher pay record libel damages of £300,000, Las Vegas Sands and Sheldon Adelson v Associated Newspapers (2006-2008) a case in which the Daily Mail published an unprecedented page 3 apology and Gunvor International BV v Economist Newspapers (2008-2009).
  • obtained published apologies and corrections for diverse clients including Fernando Torres, Dr Raj Chandran (former Commissioner of the Commission for Racial Equality), Rowan Atkinson, Michael Owen, Andy Carroll, JK Rowling, Manchester City Football Club and HRH Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
  • delivered educational sessions across sport for organisations such as Liverpool FC, Manchester City FC, Chelsea FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, Reading FC, the Rugby Players Association (clubs across the Rugby Premiership), the Welsh RFU (Wales Six Nations Squad), British Cycling, the Professional Cricketers Association, Yorkshire CCC, Nottinghamshire CCC, Glamorgan CCC, Leicestershire CCC and the England and Wales Cricket Board (England Performance Squad)
  • acted for a variety of clients in disputes in a variety of forums, including the County Court, the High Court (Queen’s Bench and Chancery Divisions), the Commercial Court, the London Metal Exchange Tribunal, the Premier League, the Football Association, the Football League Appeals Tribunal, Snowsport GB and the Jockey Club.

In 2009 Matt was awarded the Lawyer magazine’s prestigious Assistant Solicitor of the Year Award in a ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel.
